Is your mixture burning a little rich? Check this video from a Minnesota car show last Sunday. The only thing that could make this more American would be eagles and freedom everywhere. Or sloths and granted privileges. 2013 is a weird time.
Come on, Australia. What have you got?

1962 anti-lag system.

Oh, damn!
![]() 10/24/2013 at 15:08 |

Lots of air gets injected in the exhaust manifold and some fuel. Result: bang bang bang. Keeps the turbo spinning, and thus reduces lag. It's also BRUTAL on the turbo itself.

lol hellz yeah!!! Take that hippies! ..and i guess hipsters also :]

Why is that black car using aftermarket Honda tailpipes?

I wouldn't even want that on my car... talk about Cop Magnet...
![]() 10/24/2013 at 15:15 |

The last car show I took the Montego to, a guy had a setup and lit them up about as big as the one on the left.
it was AWESOME.

I thought I'd seen fart cans before, but those take the cake. Though if we're extending the analogy all the way, they'd really be more like shart cans, seeing as how typical mufflers don't end up letting giant flames through their system.
![]() 10/24/2013 at 15:17 |

Obligatory...
![]() 10/24/2013 at 15:17 |
|
Me neither. It is usually reserved for rally cars, because they have such short gearing and spend a lot of time on decel. This system is very hard on the turbo and other components, too.
And, indeed, as you mentioned ... that would be quite the cop magnet.
![]() 10/24/2013 at 15:17 |

I prefer n20 flames or flames on a 2-step turbo car.

When did doing dumb shit become the definition of Americanitude?
Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, John Adams and Alexander Hamilton didn't do this. They were too busy reading and writing books while creating democracies.
Well, maybe they lit horse farts once in a while.

Alexander Hamilton got what he had coming to him.

No way that's just exhaust being ignited... got to be injecting something just prior to the exhaust tips/ends... and then something to ignite it...

I laughed out-loud, got saliva stuck in my throat, and I choked enough to let out a small fart. Thank you.

OMG. SRLSY? You think those lame ass flames are the most american exhaust ever? WTF are you SMOKING?!? This here, my good man, is the actual, most American exhaust:
yes, you are welcome.
(Also, as a fun side note, this is my favorite exhaust flame clip, very short, but I love the lope then the hiss as it burns down)

WTG Viper, We have a great car community up here, Saturday nights used to rock. Till the it got ruined and Porky's shut down. It was cruised from St Paul up to Mpls and then turn around and back down, 58 years of cruising even when the cops would bring the water trucks out they stayed. When back to the 50's came every year it was even better, Miles of cars lined up cruising University.
They put light rail down the middle of it :(
Most of the cruisers have moved out to a new location but it is not the same.
anymore.
Here is part one of a hour of burnouts and cars leaving Porky's you can find the rest in the suggestions.

Hamilton was a drunk with a hair trigger temper and a taste for appointing his friends to posts they had no business occupying.
I too am team Burr.
![]() 10/24/2013 at 15:46 |

A lot of times cars that have "flame throwers" (albeit not like this extreme at least) will have a fuel injector and spark plug to ignite a bit of gas. This...I honest'y don't even know. And that goes doubly for the video someone else posted in above comments with like 50 ft flames.

This.

I need this for tailgaters.
Who am I kidding? I'm usually the one doing the tailgating but still, I need this in my car.
![]() 10/24/2013 at 16:06 |

Nooooo! Don't tailgate!
Jalopnik only attracts the best drivers... at least that's what I picture in my head.
![]() 10/24/2013 at 16:07 |

before cars turned turned over, both drivers were quoted with "Here, hold my beer."

I'm not sure why, but that video reminds me of this one for some reason.

Perfect for those assholes who feel like stopping 2 inches from you at stoplights. Or for tailgaters.

Aren't there armoured S-Classes in the Middle East with security systems that shot flames up from beneath the car in this manner? Or did I simply imagine that in the midst of a birch beer binge?
![]() 10/24/2013 at 17:10 |

Just the words "armoured S-Classes in the Middle East" alone makes me think of security systems that shoot flames beneath the car.
But then...

Someone say flame???? 20 second mark

Yeah, a little. It's hard to tell... you just have to take a whiff of the exhaust. Tell-tale sign.

Imagine a three lane divided road, decently paved, fairly empty.
Now picture yourself driving down this road behind three cars, side by side, doing about half the speed limit of 70 kph (about 40 MPH).
The cars are old, smoking, have no rear lights and possibly no rear view mirrors.
The cops don't pull them over, because their cars are just like that. In fact they drive just like that.
Imagine this every single day of the year.
This is driving in Guatemala, so yes, after flashing lights, sounding the horn and getting no response whatsoever I do start getting close to the car in front. This frequently causes them to slow down even further, so I pass them on the right. If I didn't do this I'd probably be ten miles away from where I need to be all the time.
![]() 10/25/2013 at 01:56 |
|
Oh, man. Sorry to hear that... sounds like commuting hell.
![]() 10/25/2013 at 04:06 |
|
If they were honest they'd say it's wrong because it has cars in it. They don't because they don't want to let on they hate cars because they hate cars.

Something tells me one of these guys is sleeping with his sister
![]() 10/25/2013 at 08:07 |

Here is another one from a different angle, where you can see there is a highway behind that billboard. After he blows a hole through it and blows some flame through that hole you can see the cars slowing/stopping. I am surprised the police weren't involved in shutting it down for 10 mins while they did it. I really do wnat to go see this in person.
![]() 10/25/2013 at 11:53 |

That wasn't dumb childish redneck bullshit. That was weed driven heroism.
![]() 10/25/2013 at 12:00 |
|
I am team Jefferson. Hamilton hated individual rights and Burr was a traitor who kept trying to raise armies to support his own magnificence. Although none of the above were semi literate rednecks.
![]() 10/25/2013 at 12:03 |
|
Ok I wasn't trying to say Burr or Hamilton were on the level of the other 3 but I though Hamilton's inclusion was a bit much. Why not John Hancock?
Burr definitely was divisive but most people know that story, few realize the political asshat Hamilton was.
![]() 10/25/2013 at 12:12 |
|
I agree Hamilton was an asshat, but his yin to Jefferson's yang was probably important in shaping the country in a balanced way. I included him because he popped into my head. As far as his contemporaries are concerned, his opposition to a bill of rights keeps him far from my favorites list. But the guy was amazingly literate and serves as an interesting piece of our history. Burr was probably the guy you wanted to have beer with, but he was much more about himself than anything else.
The founding fathers read all they could read, farmed all they could farm, banked all they could bank and got themselves shot over pride. It seems many of todays Americans ditched the reading, the farming and the banking and kept the stupid shooting thing. That and lighting grass on fire to draw attention to themselves.
![]() 10/25/2013 at 13:01 |
|
Definitely true, the founding fathers were busy sons of bitches who didn't have time to wait on a King to make a decision.
As for the Americans of today, well there is a shit ton of us. And thanks to McCarthyism plus a few other class act moments. I think people are wary of being proud to be american without some kind of quantifying factor.
![]() 10/25/2013 at 13:27 |

IT gets a little depressing when we used to be proud of our scientific achievements. We went from Thomas Edison and being first to the moon to cavemen riding dinosaurs and first to the buffet.
This 'Murican trend is bringing me down.
![]() 10/25/2013 at 13:30 |
|
I do try to ignore the 'Murican trend since it is really regressive. Things like Fuck Yea Science (which has a very american tone) are nice refreshers of more high level things.
In the interim just know there is still achievement here in the US.
![]() 10/25/2013 at 13:44 |
|
I just checked out Fuck Yeah Science, Very nice.
I am aware that we still innovate and still produce great minds. It is the greater cultural trend that is a turnoff. I am not looking forward to some of the shit my kid is going to pick up at school.
![]() 10/25/2013 at 13:52 |

Oh definitely, though hopefully there is a bit of a nerd adult community in your area where you can channel the more happy constructive thinking.
Its a tough situation, I can't imagine having to sit down and explain why the mouthbreather stuff is bad to my kid, especially if the classmates are examples of it.
